Stranded

I was on my way to work this morning and I was just going down the hill towards "Buffalo Bottoms" when I had 2 cars in front of me. This was strange because it was 4:15 a.m and I usually do not see anyone out that early. There was another car pulled off the side of the side of the road across the highway, flashing it's lights. The cars in front of me went zooming on by. Me, being, either stupid or brave, stopped. The first thing I saw was a baby in a car seat in the back, the driver door opened and a lady stepped out and said she was out of gas. I told her I would call my husband because I couldn't be late to work. So, I called Ed and he being the good guy he is got out of bed, got a gas can and what little gas we had and went on his way. He called me a little while later and told me he gave her the gas he had, and she offered to pay him. He refused it and asked her if she had money to get gas. She said she had a few dollars in her car. I am thinking wow, that will not get her far. I told him he did his good deed of the day. He really is such a great guy.

There is no common courtesy today. People are either too scared to stop or too wrapped up in themselves to think of others. I was just thinking if I was in her position, no gas, a baby in the back, no cellphone, I would hope someone would stop to help. I am sure as I drove off she thought yea right she won't call anyone.

Made me think of a verse:

Matthew 25:42-50 (New International Version)

42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,

43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44 "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45 "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

Take the time this week to step back and think of others. Hey, we could all use a little slack now and then, and if we give someone a chance and they hurt us or take advantage of us then you know what. We are the better people for offering our kindness to them. After all we are all big kids, and we can take care of it if we do get taken advantage of!

It doesn't matter what they do with the help, God is concerned about whether we offer.

Keep it up, ED!
