Tuesday Tunes

Hungry

Hungry I come to You
for I know You satisfy
I am empty
but I know Your love does not run dry
so I wait for You
so I wait for You

chorus
I'm falling on my knees
offering all of me
Jesus, You're all this heart is living for

Broken I run to You
for Your arms are open wide
I am weary but I know Your touch restores my life
so I'll wait for You
so I'll wait for You

I'm falling on my knees
offering all of me
Jesus, You're all this heart is living for
Oh, I'm falling on my knees
offering all of me
Jesus, You're all this heart is living for

and I wait for you
and I wait for you
and I wait for you
and I wait

I'm falling on my knees
offering all of me
Jesus, You're all this heart is living for
Oh, I'm falling on my knees
offering all of me
Jesus, You're all this heart is living for

Hungry I come to you,
for I know You satisfy

The Body of Christ

My Mom gave a talk this weekend on the Body of Christ. It was amazing, she did an awesome job. I heard something that I found interesting. Charles Baxter was praying for Mom and he said that the arm of Christ isn't Baptist, the legs aren't Methodist, the hands aren't Pentecost, but we are all one in Christ Jesus.

Aren't you glad of that? We can all go to different churches of denominations but we all serve the same God. That is what it boils down to, it doesn't matter where we go but that we all can come together in unity in the Body of Christ. I think too many times we get caught up in what this church does or what that church does and we do not look at it in the right way. We are all here for the same reason. We were made to worship God. How far we have gone from that principle.

Think about that this week, come together in unity with the body of believers. Let's face it, we need each other!

Profound Words

Ed: Wasn't that odd Christy

Me: Hmmm..... yea I guess

Ed: Oh, no it wasn't odd... it was GOD!

This conversation took place the other day about a prayer concern being answered in God's timing not ours. When we looked back on it we saw how God was preparing Ed for the answer!!! It was God-mazing!!

Tuesday Tunes

Ed picked today's Tuesday Tunes. We sang this at church Sunday.

Unfailing Love - Chris Tomlin

You have my heart
And I am yours forever
You are my strength
God of grace and power

And everything
You hold in Your hand
Still You make time for me
I can't understand

Praise You, God of earth and sky
How beautiful is Your unfailing love
Unfailing love
And You never change, God, You remain
The Holy One and my unfailing love
Unfailing love

You are my rock
The One I hold on to
You are my song
And I sing for You

And everything
You hold in Your hand
Still You make time for me
I can't understand

Praise You, God of earth and sky
How beautiful is Your unfailing love
Unfailing love
And You never change, God, You remain
The Holy One and my unfailing love
Unfailing love

And everything (everything)
You hold in Your hand
And still You make time for me
I can't understand (can't understand still)

Praise You, God of earth and sky
How beautiful is Your unfailing love
Unfailing love
And You never change, God, You remain
The Holy one and my unfailing love
Unfailing love
(I will praise You)

Mundane Monday

I really enjoy the days when we can come home and just hang out. We do not have much going on tonight. I will meet with my Ya Ya's at 7 for our bible study but other than that it is just family time! Ed is making his famous breakfast for dinner right now. That is a treat in the Farhar house. I took a minute to snap some pics. Cole isn't in them since he is at soccer practice until 5. Friday is Aimee's 17th birthday and if you know me you know that if I get presents early I cannot keep them hidden, so Aimee'a gift came today and yep you guessed it I gave it to her. I am such a bad mom!! It is a pink digital camera with accessories. Enjoy!!

Aimee trying to video the cat!

Ed with his cheesy grin making the famous gravy!!

Chang waiting for food.... as usual!

Chopper also waiting for food!

Aimee and the new camera and I think a fake smile!!

Being a soldier in this world

How many soldiers have you known? They dress the part, and they act the part. They do not become entangled in the world. They have a purpose and duty to fill and they do it. To do this they have lots of training and discipline.

We, friends are soldiers of this world as Christians. We have to dress the part and act the part. Now, this isn't easy. It is a daily, DAILY, choice to equip ourselves to be an overcomer.

Ephesians 6:11 Active words.... Put on the full armor of God. That is an active thing not a passive thing. God gives us these things to equip us, he has EVERYTHING we need to be overcomers. All we have to do it DO it, be active in it.

Often times we say "oh, I wish the devil would leave me alone", or "oh, I wish I would have had a better start to life", "oh, my life just really stinks". Joyce Meyer said you do not need a wishbone you need a backbone!!! I LOVE that!!

Here is a big one for ya! You cannot help those that DO NOT want to be helped. You can get to entangled in others affairs and lose sight of the real meaning of servanthood. Imagine if Jesus would have forced his miracles on others, it wouldn't have worked too good. He helped those who came to him for help! Not those that he felt needed his help.

We have to be overcomers of this world! Jesus came to the world to save the lost. We are the lost!!

Make a daily decision to be an overcomer! Put on the armor of God to equip you to face the enemies out there.

Ephesians 6:10-19 (New Living Translation)

The Whole Armor of God

10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.

12 For weare not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.

14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.

15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.

16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.

17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

19 And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike.

Birth Order

Don't know if you have ever read anything about this, but Kevin Leman wrote a book about birth order and it was very enlightening. He is also a very funny and entertaining author and speaker. Check him out at: http://www.lemanbooksandvideos.com/store/

First born? Only child? Middle child? Baby of the family?

Do you realize that of the first twenty three astronauts in space, twenty one were first borns and the other two were an only child in their family?

Did you know that first borns are natural leaders? They are our CEOs and presidents.
Were you aware that many entrepreneurs, like Donald Trump and Bill Gates, are middle children?

Ever wonder how it is that your show-off kid sister became the top salesperson in her company? It’s also no coincidence that comedians Billy Crystal, Drew Carey, and Steve Martin are all the youngest of their sex in their family.

It’s all about birth order.

Birth order powerfully influences who you are, who you marry, the job you choose, and the kind of parent you are.

The Case of the missing crab

Yep, you read it right. We have a missing crab. What a joyous thought!

When I get home from work, I usually let Chopper out then go to Cole's room to check on his animals. Well, the other day I found the underwater crab on the top of the bowl just sitting there so I gently scooted him back in the bowl. I went in yesterday and guess what.... yes sir he was gone, or she I am not sure which it is to tell you the truth and I never thought of it until now. I digress.....

So, I looked around his room to no avail. I texted him and he said "Are you sure" well no I am not sure, I just looked in there and it was gone. I think I am pretty sure. Kids!! =)

We all looked some last night but no crab. I said Aimee's new kitten Luci probably ate it or Chopper. He tries to eat flies anytime he sees one. I am rambling I know..... lol

I am sure we will find/smell it sooner or later!

Tuesday Tunes

This is an amazing song that is a true reminder of what God has brought us from. Even though it can be painful to remember past mistakes it is a reminder of just how merciful our God is.

Enjoy!!

Heal The Wound Point of Grace

I used to wish that I could rewrite history
I used to dream that each mistake could be erased
Then I could just pretend
I never knew the me back then

I used to pray that You would take this shame away
Hide all the evidence of who I've been
But it's the memory of
The place You brought me from
That keeps me on my knees
And even though I'm free

Heal the wound but leave the scar
A reminder of how merciful You are
I am broken, torn apart
Take the pieces of this heart
And heal the wound but leave the scar

I have not lived a life that boasts of anything
I don't take pride in what I bring
But I'll build an altar with
The rubble that You've found me in
And every stone will sing
Of what You can redeem

Heal the wound but leave the scar
A reminder of how merciful You are
I am broken, torn apart
Take the pieces of this heart
And heal the wound but leave the scar

Don't let me forget
Everything You've done for me
Don't let me forget
The beauty in the suffering

Heal the wound but leave the scar
A reminder of how merciful You are
I am broken, torn apart
Take the pieces of this heart
And heal the wound but leave the scar

What has God done for you this past week??

Ok, I know I have posted 2 other times already but had to share this. In Sunday School yesterday our assignment was to ask people we do not know the following question: "What has God done for you this week?" I have gotten some strange looks!!

So, I asking you although I know most all of you. WHAT HAS GOD DONE FOR YOU LATELY??

Don't disappoint me. If you do not want to leave a comment then e-mail it to me at UofKWldCatFan@aol.com.

This explains it all....No words needed!

My Dad!

The Hiding Place

We were without power ALL day yesterday. It finally came on about 2:30 this a.m. If I heard once "I am bored" from Wang Chung-Freedy Bob-Woohoo-Chang, I heard it a thousand times. So, what does Ed do? He pulls out an old hymnal he has and decided we needed an old-fashioned hymn sing. We all looked at him like he was nuts but we did it. Halfway through the first song Chang said "I not bored anymore". It didn't last long though!!

I started a new book today it is "The Hiding Place" by Corrie Ten Boom. It is amazing so far. I do not usually read non-fiction but this is proving to be a good choice. It is a 1971 book on the life of Corrie Ten Boom, written by ten Boom together with John and Elizabeth Sherrill.

The idea of a book on ten Boom's life began as John and Elizabeth Sherrill were doing research for the book God's Smuggler, about ten Boom's fellow Dutchman, Brother Andrew. Corrie ten Boom was already in her mid-seventies when the Sherills first heard about her. She was one of Brother Andrew's favorite traveling companions and many of his recollections were about her. In the preface to the book, the Sherills recount: ...his [Brother Andrew's] fascinating stories about her in Vietnam, where she had earned that most honorable title "Double-old Grandmother" - and in a dozen other Communist countries - came to mind so often that we finally had to hold up her hands to stop his flow of reminiscence. "We could never fit her into the book," we said. "She sounds like a book in herself." It's the sort of thing you say. Not meaning anything. It was later made into a film of the same name. The title refers to both the physical hiding place where the ten Boom family secreted Jews from the Nazis, and also to the Scriptural message from the Book of Isaiah which states in part, "Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word... Hold thou me up, and I..."

Old McDonald had a farm......

Yes, I think we can relate to Ole' McDonald!

Last night Cole acquired a new hermit crab making it 2 hermits and one under water plus his beta fish! This morning Aimee acquired a new cat. We have yet to name her.

We are animal lovers! I think we need to stop though or move to a real farm!! Today Cole has 2 soccer games at South Knox. The Jones' are bringing their tent and I packed the cooler full of food. It should be a fun day!! Tomorrow Aimee has a double header in Terre Haute so it is a busy weekend.

The best thing is it is Emmaus time!!! The next 2 weekends are walks. We love participating in the weekends. It is such a spiritual recharge!

Have a great weekend!!

Sermons

Heard a pretty good message today on Dr. David Jeremiah's Turning Point. You should really listen to him on 88.7 at 7:00 a.m. daily.

Anyway, he said your attitude going into church sets your mood for getting anything out of it! That was good, and it is true. That is why the old scum dog tries to trip us up on Sunday mornings to keep us out of church or to just put us in the mood to just go through the motions.

Here's how to hear a sermon according to Dr. David Jeremiah:

(1) Pray for your pastor's message and prepare your heart to hear it;

(2) If you know the text in advance, read it;

(3) Sit near the front;

(4) Bring your Bible, and follow along with the Scriptures;

(5) Make notes of the outline, main points, quotes, and illustrations;

(6) Take away at least one truth to apply in a practical way to your life; and

(7) Try to share something from the message with another person as soon as possible

Ah, man... As Tami will tell you I hate sitting near the front HOWEVER, we have at church been sitting in the third pew because with my ADHD it is really easy for me to get distracted.

These are good practical things we can all do to help us out in church.

Hillsong - Mighty to Save

Everyone needs compassion
A love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me

Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations

Savior He can move the mountains
My God is Mighty to save
He is Mighty to save

Forever Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

So take me as You find me
All my fears and failures
And fill my life again

I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in
Now I surrender I surrender

Savior He can move the mountains
My God is Mighty to save
He is Mighty to save
Forever Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave (x2)

Shine your light and let the whole world see
We're singing for the glory of the risen King...Jesus (x2)

Stranded

I was on my way to work this morning and I was just going down the hill towards "Buffalo Bottoms" when I had 2 cars in front of me. This was strange because it was 4:15 a.m and I usually do not see anyone out that early. There was another car pulled off the side of the side of the road across the highway, flashing it's lights. The cars in front of me went zooming on by. Me, being, either stupid or brave, stopped. The first thing I saw was a baby in a car seat in the back, the driver door opened and a lady stepped out and said she was out of gas. I told her I would call my husband because I couldn't be late to work. So, I called Ed and he being the good guy he is got out of bed, got a gas can and what little gas we had and went on his way. He called me a little while later and told me he gave her the gas he had, and she offered to pay him. He refused it and asked her if she had money to get gas. She said she had a few dollars in her car. I am thinking wow, that will not get her far. I told him he did his good deed of the day. He really is such a great guy.

There is no common courtesy today. People are either too scared to stop or too wrapped up in themselves to think of others. I was just thinking if I was in her position, no gas, a baby in the back, no cellphone, I would hope someone would stop to help. I am sure as I drove off she thought yea right she won't call anyone.

Made me think of a verse:

Matthew 25:42-50 (New International Version)

42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,

43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44 "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45 "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

Take the time this week to step back and think of others. Hey, we could all use a little slack now and then, and if we give someone a chance and they hurt us or take advantage of us then you know what. We are the better people for offering our kindness to them. After all we are all big kids, and we can take care of it if we do get taken advantage of!

Egos

Andrea and I have a thing we do.... Every week we will text each other (ok we text multiple times A day but...) anyway, we will compliment each other in a way, it started out just a nice thing to do. I don't know who started it her or I but it has become a habit.

We always laugh now when it happens. We call it our weekly ego-stroking! It is a nice thing to do though. It always makes me feel good when I get a text like that from her. I know that most think that texting has taken away communication but it helps me keep in touch with me peeps!! I usually get a daily text from Annette that says.... u ok? It helps to know someone cares!!

The boys have a junior high soccer game tonight and I will take pictures to post later on. Cole has really taken a liking to soccer, and we love watching it. Aimee has her first travel softball game this weekend with her new team so we are anxious to see how that goes.

Oh ye of little faith

Jesus Calms the Storm

Matthew 8

23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.

24 Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.

25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"

26 He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

27 The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"

The Sea of Galilee is an odd body of water. It is relatively small, 13 miles long and 7 miles wide. But it is 150 feet deep, and the shoreline is 680 feet below sea level! Sudden storms can appear over the surrounding mountains with little warning, stirring the water into violent 20-foot waves. The disciples had not foolishly set out in a storm. They had been caught without warning, and their danger was great. Although they had seen many miracles they panicked in this storm. They knew the danger as experiences sailors, what they didn't know was that Christ could control the forces of nature.

There is often a stormy area of our human nature when we feel God can't or won't work. Then we truly understand who God is, we will realize that he controls both the storms of nature and the storms of the troubled heart. God is willing to help we just have to ask.

Families

I really feel a need to ask for everyone to be praying for families right now. I have heard so much here lately how the ole' scum dog is really tearing apart families (or trying to).

The devil is in the details and he will use EVERY ploy to get us doubting ourselves or as far away from God as he can. Before we know it we are there. He sneaks up on us and overtakes us.

It seems that every day I hear of yet another family going through some form of struggle whether it be addictions, abuse, financial, emotional or whatever!!

So PLEASE get on your knees and say a special prayer for families right now!!

Thanks!!

Tuesday Tunes

This is Jason Castro's version of this song.. I LOVE it. Enjoy!!

Over The Rainbow

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

Fears

I have ALWAYS dreamt about snakes. That is my one true fear is snakes. Ever since I was a little girl almost every night I would wake up terrified because of a dream about a snake. I think I spent most of my nights in my parents room with them.

Even now I still do this... Ed would often times find me standing on the bed scared to move. I have always wandered what that meant because I hardly ever dreamt about anything else or I would not dream at all.

I have been told that it was because I was a mischievous child. Not that I believed that... I mean I was sweet..... ok maybe not too sweet!

Then a couple of weeks ago I had the same reoccurring dream about a snake only this time I killed the snake. This has never happened. I was so happy, I woke up the next morning and exclaimed to Ed "I killed the snake". Being Ed he was also happy for me but I am sure he was thinking.. what a loony!

Now for the strange part, I have not had a dream about a snake since!!!!! Before I couldn't even look at a snake on t.v. without dreaming about it at night. Even when I didn't see one I still had the dream at least 3 nights a week... FOR MY WHOLE LIFE!

What does this mean?? I have no idea but I have slept better and not had to worry about dreaming about snakes. I guess I really killed the snake for good! I sure hope so!!
